First Time to First Church?
Thanks for checking us out!
Whether you are just curious or seriously considering a "church home,” you are very much welcome here at St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church. Most of our visitors wanted to know what you can expect when you arrive on Sunday morning. After talking with many visitors over the years, we’ve developed these simple steps below so you will make your visit a joyful occasion.
Welcome to Sunday Morning
1. Choose a Worship Service
Worship begins at 8:00 and 11:00 a.m., with some exceptions on special holidays. The South campus has one service which starts at 10 a.m. Each service includes a sermon but the music ministry is somewhat different per service. All services generally follow a worship guide outline which will help you understand how we do things. We welcome you to bring your bible but if not the scripture reading is located within the worship guide.
The 8:00 a.m. service is more traditional in style and dress. The music is a mix from our hymnals and old spirituals.
The 11:00 a.m. service is less formal in style and dress. The music is a mix of our hymnal and contemporary gospel music.
South Campus service is similar to our 11:00 service at the main campus. However, there is a campus ministry there to meet the needs of this congregation.
Regardless of which service you choose, it’s best to arrive about 15 minutes early if you need time to find your children’s activity. Also most children, youth and adult Sunday school classes meet in-between services or before service at the South Campus.
2. Arrive and Get Parked
If this is your first time visitor, you are special to us and we have reserved parking next to the church. Look for the special parking spaces located next to each of our Sanctuaries.
3. Find your way
Greeters are ready to answer your questions to get you where you need to go. Just look for them at the doors and in the halls. They’ll be waiting for you to arrive before worship and then to answer your questions following the service.
4. Celebrate Through Worship
Ushers will welcome you into the worship center and give you a worship guide outlining the service. They will also help you find a seat, answer questions, and give you a tour of the facilities.
Still Not Sure About Visiting?
We'd be happy to answer those questions that you still have. Please call us at the church at 214-887-3920, or email our staff directly.

Main Campus
We are a church committed to continuing our mission of reaching up to God and out into the community. We do this though our mission, vision, and core values. To learn more about our mission, vision, and core values follow this link.
South Campus
St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church Senior Pastor Tyrone Gordon had a vision. He wanted to expand the St. Luke mission of reaching out to the community by establishing a campus site in the southern sector of Dallas. After much prayer and many discussions with the North Texas Conference, Pastor G was given the support to begin developing the concept. Pastor G appointed Pastor Derek Jacobs to be the south campus minister for the new ministry in the tri city area of Desoto, Duncanville, Cedar Hill.
Zan W. Holmes, Jr. “Community” Life Center
Part of St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church vision was to have a community life center where the community could gather and could promote activities which would help individual and family meet their potential.
Reaching up to God and out to the community!
That’s what drives the ministries of St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church. From ministries to men, women, young people, and children our mission is to reach up and out to the community. We make further outreach through our radio and mission trips. The emphasis at St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church is on meeting the needs of people in a loving, Christlike manner. There’s truly something for everyone at St. Luke.
