Bible
Studies

Advent
Bible Study
Advent Bible Study is a monthly, home-based, bible study that
prepares participants for the season of Advent. ABS is held
each December. The focus is on the coming of the Christ child.
African
Heritage Holy Bible Study Series
African Heritage Series provides study opportunities, lectures
and workshops that celebrate the African presence in the bible
and its influence in the Christian church.
Children’s Bible Study
Children’s Bible Study is designed to educate, train,
and move children in kindergarten through sixth grade toward
spiritual maturity through building relationships and using
a four part curriculum entitled “Breakout”. The
curriculum is designed to help children Know Christ,
Grow in Christ, Serve Christ, and Share
Christ with those around them. Each year children advance
to a different level in the program.
Christian Believer
This is a 30-week study of the classical doctrines of the Christian
faith that focuses on presenting, explaining, and interpreting
Christian doctrine as the basic teaching of the church. The
foundation of the Christian Believer is that informed believing
leads to committed discipleship.
Disciple Bible Study (Levels I-IV)
A high commitment, long-term bible study program. (34 weeks)
DBS offers congregations a challenge and a promise. The challenge
is to see the regular in-depth study of scripture as a foundation
for making disciples and performing ministry. The promise is
that all who submit themselves to examination by scripture will,
with the aid of the Holy Spirit, be changed. This course is
for congregations desiring a way of life -- as individual Christians
and as a faithful members of the community -- to be transformed
by the way of Christ, commitment to the study of the bible is
the first and foundational step to take. We invite you to join
us in our journey toward faithful discipleship!
Lenten
Bible Study
Lenten Bible Study coincides with the season of Lent, which
spans 40 weekdays beginning on Ash Wednesday and concludes during
Holy Week. This study is marked by a time of prayer and preparation
to celebrate Easter, the resurrection of the our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
Youth
Bible Studies
The educational ministry provides bible studies targeted toward
our youth. These bible studies create a setting in which the
youth can come to know God and be transformed through the love
of God.

Heritage & Archives

The Church Heritage and Archives Ministry exists to collect,
catalog, and display the "tangible" history of St. Luke.

Church
School

Church School provides Christian education, in Sunday school
and other settings that allow growth in the understanding of
the Bible and the Christian faith --fostering Christian disciples
and good neighbors.

GED
& ESL Classes

The GED (General Equivalence Degree) /ESL (English as a Second
Language) ministry will provide basic skills in order to increase
literacy, and also assist students in obtaining better educational
and career opportunities. Our ministry goal is to address some
of the educational needs of the surrounding community thereby
fulfilling St. Luke's mission to implement community outreach.

Higher
Education & Campus

The Higher Education ministry serves as a vehicle for those
inside and outside of the church community to help students
of all ages pursue their goal of a college education. This ministry
provides individuals and families with opportunities to explore
various college options by a variety of methods including, college
preparation seminars, college information sessions, college
fairs, and individual academic counseling sessions. Each year
the Higher Education ministry sponsors a college tour.

Lindley
Gay Academy

The Lindley Gay African Heritage Academy is a culturally focused
school for children in our church membership and in the community
that will have at its core a Christian and Afrocentric based
curriculum. Studies include African and African American history
from ancient Africa to America. The ministry meets Sundays from
8:30 am - 9:45 am.

Vacation
Bible School
-----------------------
Vacation Bible School provides additional educational opportunities
in the summer to experience God's love and share that love with
church members and members from the surrounding community. Classes
are held for both children and adults.

W. Holmes, Jr. Scholarship Ministry

To assist graduating high school students with tuition and textbook
expenditures, in order to pursue higher education.
